Now Moments

Sunrise Dec 31,2014

I took a moment this last day of the year morning to rush back inside the house to grab my camera. I wanted to capture the gorgeous sunrise (I still haven’t gotten used to the sun rising as late as 8:40 am GMT).

After a few snaps through the trees, I thought I would get a full sky view when I reached the main road just beyond them. By the time I walked through the gate leading to the roundabout, less than two minutes later, the colors were only a fraction of their original glory and before I finished crossing the road, they had disappeared entirely.

As we close out one year and look forward to the new, nature gave me (and now you) a reminder to take the moments that come and savor them.

Don’t worry that you’ll be a few minutes late for work; stop thinking about the things that went wrong yesterday; suspend your cares and fears of tomorrow – just take a few moments to enjoy the NOW!

‘Now’ moments can be a beautiful sunrise or sunset; a rainbow; the innocent laughter of a child; the warm smile from a partner, friend, or even stranger; a minute of silence and solitude; or anything that makes you pause and live just for those few moments in today. If you stop to acknowledge them, you’ll be surprised at how long they remain with you to brighten more of your day.

With my wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year for all, I hope you will remember to take more now moments. The past is unchangeable, the future uncertain, best to just enjoy what we have at our fingertips – the now.
