Ar an Satharn na Seachtain na Gaeilge
I went in search of soul food
And found that crocus had passed the baton to daffodil
Only a few strides ‘round the corner lurks spring
- Parent daffodils watching over children
The labyrinth confirms I walk my Sacred Path
Even if the rian is deacair to follow
I glimpse ancestors or spirit guides in meditation
Then not without battle, strike a warrior pose
As Dublin town turns green (including the US Embassy)
I rejoice that the snakes are yet alive and well
and hold court at a college in Kilkenny
A ghost moon hovers over the city
As the day ebbs into night
May this lioness sleep well (for once), tonight
I hope you enjoyed St. Patrick’s Feast Day, Dawn!
