Festival of Festivals

Festival season is in high gear in Galway and they not only come one after the other but even overlap.  There’s no shortage of interesting, thought provoking, and entertaining things to do this time of year.  The hardest part is deciding which to attend.

The Fringe Festival along with the Galway Arts Festival are running simultaneously through the end of the month.  There are concerts, plays, talks, dance performances, workshops, prose and poetry readings, comedy, and plenty of art displays throughout the city.

Not steady drizzle nor dusk prevented thousands from standing along Shop Street and the entire parade route for the Macnas Theatre Company’s This Thunderous Heart parade as part of the Galway Arts Festival on Monday.  Dozens of actors and performers braved the elements and put on a great display of art, music, dance, and general performance art, engaging the myriad of children lining the route.
