Simplicity and Sunshine

Just about everyone enjoys a nice sunny day, especially when they have been few and far between. My joy in this sunny Saturday had nothing to do with soaking up some Vitamin D, but in how many loads of laundry I could get done because I could hang them outside to dry, having given up completely on the dryer part of the washer/dryer combo. Sometimes it really is the simple things in life that bring us the most pleasure, or at least sense of accomplishment.

My life certainly has been simplified in the last number of months. There is a freedom that comes with simplicity; along with an awakening to the amazing world in which we live. I can stop and smell the proverbial roses; discover the secret life of ducks, swans, and seagulls; and marvel at the beauty of nature as one season fades into the next. I’m learning to appreciate what I have instead worrying over what I don’t, though admittedly, I still have a long way to go on this one. Although life is filled with trials and tribulations, it is also filled with simple joys and acts of kindness that help smooth the journey.

Create your own simplicity and watch the sunshine appear, even on a cloudy day.

  1. Those are wonderful observations…a few more like that and you become a full blown Buddhist…
